Cliff Guo NICE
Cliff Guo is the Clean coal conversion and utilization technology platform leader of NICE (National Institute of Clean and Low Carbon Energy), China
Dr. Guo first worked as a mechanical engineer in Fluor Daniel Inc. and Foster Wheeler Inc. where he designed hundreds of equipment used in chemical and petro-chemical industry, he led the design of hydro-cracking reactor and delayed Coker in Clark Refinery project. Dr. Guo joined the GE Energy in 2006 and led the design and development of advanced coal gasification burner and radiant syngas cooler, which are critical equipment for Duke’s Edwardsport IGCC plant in Indiana.
In 2009, Dr. Guo and a few renowned experts in energy industry established the National Institute of Clean-and-low carbon Energy (NICE) with strong support from Chinese government and Shenhua Group.
He built Coal Upgrading center and recently is appointed as the Clean coal conversion and utilization technology platform leader in NICE. He lead team to develop two generation of Shenhua Coal Refining technology, and Shenhua has built a pilot-plant based on this technology in Shaanxi Yulin of China, and seek its application in coal chemical industries.
In 1987, Dr. Guo received his B.S. from Tsinghua University and later got his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from University of Houston.
Dr. Guo is also the inventor of 50 patents and the author of 30 journal publications.
