Francis Lau SES
Francis Lau is Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Synthesis Energy Systems, Inc. (SES) responsible for the research, development, and commercialization of gasification technologies.
Has over thirty years of experience in the research, development, and commercialization of gasification and related technologies for energy and chemicals production. He was involved in the development of numerous gasification technologies for a variety of feedstocks including all ranks of coal, biomass, waste, peat, and oil shale; gasification technologies for the production of power, liquid fuels, fuel gas, hydrogen and chemicals. To-date he has successfully licensed and commercialized two gasification technologies, one for coal and another for biomass.
He joined SES in 2008.
He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI and Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. He also attended the University of Chicago’s MBA program.
He has received several awards for his contributions to the energy space. He holds several patents in this area and has published extensively in the clean energy topics including a book on Hydrogen.
